On Saturday, April 18, 2015, Sazmanab artist-in-residence Ala Ebtekar in conversation with Ahoo Najafian discussed Ebtekar's recent exhibition at The Third Line "nowheresville \ 'nä-kōja,-abäd \" and the themes around which the exhibition was conceived; light, translation and Iranian Futurism.

Ala Ebtekar was born in Berkeley in 1978 and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from San Francisco Art Institute in 2002 followed by a Masters of Fine Arts from Stanford University in 2006. He is currently a visiting lecturer in the Department of Art & Art History at Stanford University. Ala’s work has been widely exhibited internationally. Ala currently lives and works in California, USA.

Ahoo Najafian is a PhD candidate in Islamic Studies in the Department of Religious Studies at Stanford University. Her research interests include contemporary literature and visual arts in Islamicate societies with a focus on Iran, issues of identities, authenticity, and gender.
