Navid Khonsari in conversation with Sohrab Kashani and Hamid Severi

San Andreas was a durational project by Sohrab Kashani that was comprised of photographs and videos taken of virtual people, objects, and places inside the action-adventure video game “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas”. It also included a series of installations, talks, and discussions.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is an open world action-adventure video game that became the best-selling video game of 2004, and has sold over 27 million copies. The game is cited as a landmark in video games for its far-reaching influence within the video game industry. However, the violence and sexual content of San Andreas has been the source of much public concern and controversy. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is played from a third-person perspective in an open-world environment, allowing the player to interact with the game world at their leisure. The game is set within the fictional US state of San Andreas, which is heavily based on California and Nevada. The state of San Andreas consists of three metropolitan cities: Los Santos, based on Los Angeles; San Fierro, based on San Francisco; Los Angeles; San Fierro, based on San Francisco; and Las Venturas, based on Las Vegas. The first Grand Theft Auto game to feature a camera was Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, although the player could only use it in one mission. The camera was made available again in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, albeit with more functionality, allowing the player to use its functionality, allowing the player to use it freely. The camera has a capacity of 36 pictures per film, and pictures taken can be saved. Kashani deviated from the video game’s objectives and instead used the camera inside the game to take pictures of people, objects, and places.

Navid Khonsari both a veteran and a contemporary force in the film and gaming industry – developed the cinematic look and feel for the Grand Theft Auto video game series. As the director of such games as Max Payne, Smugglers Run, Midnight Club, Manhunt, Red Dead Revolver, and The Warriors, Navid pioneered the merger of live-action films with animated video game cinematics as well as the production series needed to help create some of the best selling franchises in video game history.
