Workshop on interactive multimedia conducted by Frederick Rodrigues

In this workshop, the participants covered how to create rich interactive multimedia tools for performance. They discussed various approaches and their pros and cons such as Isaodra, MaxMSP, Arduino and open frameworks. They looked at tracking and openCV, Arduino, DMX, MIDI, OSC, OpenGL, communication between software and hardware, interface design and creation and generally making various hardware and software talk to each other. The workshop was open to beginners and more advanced users.

The workshop ran over 2 days, the first day was an introduction and participants were given the tools they needed to get going along with some excellent reference material. They discussed how to start using technology in performance and installations, both from an artistic perspective and more practically. The second day focused on answering the questions that arised from trying to use these tools in practice.
